Its name was derived from the word “masungki” which translates to “spiked” – describing the spiky limestone terrain that the area is known for.The award-winning limestone geopark and conservation area features two different guided trails: the Discovery Trail, which takes guests on a fun, thrilling trek through the conservation area and its magnificent karst terrain, and the Legacy Trail, which immerses guests in the greater Masungi Geopark Project and its ongoing restoration efforts such as tree-planting and tree-nurturing. The latest addition is the Garden Picnic, which is perfect for families with small children and senior citizens who want to have a relaxing stroll in nature.
Mt. Balagbag. Mt. Balagbag is a preferred hiking and mountain biking destination near Metro Manila because of its proximity to the city. Located in Rodriguez (formerly Montalban), parts of Metro Manila can be seen from the top, as well as green views of the surrounding Sierra Madre Mountain Range. It is also popular as one of the shooting locations of the 2018 film “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” (Goyo: The Young General), which is based on the life of Gregorio Del Pilar, who was a Filipino general of the Philippine Revolutionary Army during the Philippine–American War. The fact that it’s only accessible off-road via 4×4 car also adds to the excitement.
CVM Orchard and Eco-Park. This eco-park and campsite in Rizal offers different outdoor activities for the whole family and barkada such as biking, camping, boat rides, ATV and animal feeding. Tinipak River. Clear, green waters flowing through light-colored rock formations in lush green surroundings makes for a scenic final destination for a river trek. There are several campsites that offer camping and glamping options within proximity of the river.
Nagpatong Rock Formation. See or scale the two towering limestone rock formations for yourself. The path is intimidating at first, but doable even for beginners willing to climb up the steep, vertical wooden ladder leading all the way up to the rock formation’s iconic flat peak.
